The quantum noise of the Electromagnetic field and the tools needed to quantify this noise, are discussed in this thesis. The usual representations of the quantized electromagnetic field in terms of Fock States and coherent states are briefly summarized. The density operator and various Quasi-Probability Distributions(QPD) are discussed; The quadrature squeezed state is introduced from a more conceptual point of view. The Kerr Medium, that gives rise to 'another kind of squeezing in which the noise in the photon number is squeezed' is reviewed and its effect on a coherent state is summarized. One of the effects of the relative phase is 'to produce the curvature in QPD'. A canonical form of the superposition of two coherent states is described. The effect of the relative phase on the QPD of the canonical form is studied in detail. The noise matrix for the canonical form is calculated, the presence of various kinds of squeezing for different relative phases are studied.
