Summary, etc Ancient History of Western Asia, India and Crete is an English version of Hrozný work, translated by Jindřich Procházka. This volume largely covers the area concerning the Middle East and a concise section on ancient India. The author largely covers the prehistory of West Asian regions such as Uruk, Jemdet Nasr, Halaf, and Obeid periods, the history of Hittites, of ancient Middle Eastern civilizations, such as Sumerians, Akkadians, Hamites, Babylonians, and the Indo-European origins of Sumero-Akkadians. Also, it covers ancient Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Assyria, Tigris-Euphrates regions, the Caucasian region, and the Caspian Sea area. It also covers the history and discovery of writing and the history of ancient and popular Semitic religions, which also include Judaism and Christianity. This book helps to understand the Old Testament and New Testament histories, and the ancient civilization of the Near East from the prehistorical and ancient times. About the Author Bedřich Hrozný (1879-1952) was a Czech orientalist, archaeologist, linguist, and polyglot. He also deciphered the Hittite language and laid down the foundations of Hittite history, culture, and civilization in mainstream academia. He is also known as the father of Hittitology. He discovered around 1000 cuneiform tablets containing letters and other modes of exchanges of Assyrian merchants in Kältepe in modern Turkey. In 1929, he founded the journal Archiv Orientální, which deals with Africa, Asia, and Near Eastern studies.
